Kingdom of baltheria

Take your knightly oath, onward to glory!

The Kingdom of Baltheria is a triumvirate of kingdoms united in the single goal of growing their influence. Baltheria is rich in resources and extending their economic reach is one of their chief goals. Their legions of armoured knights give them the most powerful cavalry force in Miradawn and their naval abilities are also second to none.

The kingdom is comprised of three seperate countries, the rich and powerful Cereon, the warm and resource-filled mines of Sailon and the rugged and sea-faring nation of Mundera. Although the three nations are in unity, it is Cereon that holds the power and initiated the creation of Baltheria. This dynamic has caused some fractures, most notably between Mundera and Cereon. But despite any civil squabbles, the blue banners of Baltheria command attention wherever they venture.

Do you see yourself as a knight of Baltheria? Or perhaps a Civilian living under this feudal system? Will you take the oath and protect the three crowns from all villainy? Read through some of our lore below to decide if you will take your oath!

cereon

The lion of Cereon… the regal upper echelon and driving force behind the Kingdom of Baltheria. The golden plains and mountainous borders of Cereon give breath-taking scenery and gift the northernmost nation in the triumvirate with the richest agricultural and mineral industries in all of Miradawn. With its origins of settlers coming from the north west to the warmer climes of the Baltherian peninsula, Cereon has always staked its claim as the original and oldest member of the three nations (although Mundera’s overall history is still longer).

The wealth of Cereon and it’s greater population have given it the most power over its corner of the continent. Mundera boasts its naval superiority and Sailon provides efficient foot soldiers, but Cereon contributes the majority of the armoured knights for Baltheria’s potent cavalry. The training, commitment and ability of Baltherian knights are due in large part to Cereon’s own efforts.

With orders of knights in each of its major cities and orders established throughout its lands, Cereon boasts it reputation as the “brain” and the iron fist of the Baltherian war machine. King Raynald De Merovian sits in the luxurious Castle d’Or in the capital city and uses Baltheria’s council to move the triumvirate closer to its goal of seeing blue banners fly in every corner of Miradawn.

Sailon

Sailon is synonymous with passion. It is the south-westernmost part of the Baltherian peninsula and it’s topography is as colourful as the personalities of the people themselves. Sailon is rich in minerals, as well as gems and their mines are among the richest in Miradawn. The founding of Sailon was a scattered affair, as most of its people are highly tribalistic and they have favoured living in divided up sections rather than as a unified power. Something that has defined, and some may argue, plagued Sailon to this day.

Sailon is also home to one of the greatest heroic figures in Miradawn, Felivor the Great, namesake of the northernmost province. He was a warrior of humble origins who led a movement to unite and free the people of Sailon from the corrupt and influential families of power of elder Sailon. His campaign was in vain as the people could not ultimately unite.

Sailon isn’t as troublesome to Cereon as its neighbour, Mundera. But the internal squabbling is something that endures to this day, particularly between the two most powerful provinces Orlenos and Delos. But what Sailon lacks in national unity, it makes up for in warrior spirit and its province’s soldiers are often called the beating heart of the Baltherian army.

mundera

The coastal nation of Mundera is the furthest east on the Baltherian peninsula. Renowned for their sailing prowess, Munderans boast one of the longest histories on the entire continent with their founding queen, Rogita, coming to their shores and settling in the famed Temple of the Sea as the Munderan house of governance.

Mundera’s topography in the north is almost as diverse as its people. In the north, you have the frigid waters and snow-touched cliffs of Tarvin Bay, whereas the southern coasts in the vast Velicour Bay boast sandy beaches and rolling sub-tropical grasslands. This variation has given Mundera a great variety of resource access, from forestry, fishing and some mining as well. With the wildest waters in all of Miradawn, Mundera’s sailors are second to none and provide most of the backbone in Baltheria’s naval prowess.

Mundera was the last nation to become part of the Baltherian union and has been the most troublesome to control. A matriarchal society, with a queen always on the throne, they have contested bitterly the often unfair circumstances that come from Cereon. With rumours of pirate groups coming from Mundera, it has always been the thorn in the side of those hoping for a completely unified and peaceful Baltheria.
